Foundation Skills 2.0This class is full.
Dogs ages 12 mo. and up. Motivational training to create a toolbox of problem-solving skills and further develop a common language for you and your dog. A small class format allows us to design this class to fit the handler’s and dog’s skills.  The focus is clear training mechanics. The team will learn and recognize the benefits of Engage and Disengage, Attention/Focus games, Wait/Stay, On/Off targeting, Come to heel, Whiplash turn, Beginning leash handling skills, variations on Leave it, and as an experiment, discuss cooperative husbandry skills. Learn how to install a verbal cue vs. a physical cue. You WILL need to work with your dog approximately 6 minutes per day between classes to keep up with the material. This fun class is suitable as an ongoing training “lab” for YOU and your dog.

Prerequisite: Teams should have completed one previous set of classes with their dog. Handlers should be able to elicit a sit, down, and get the dog’s attention. Dogs should be generally friendly with dogs and people, but we don’t mind a little rah-rah. Ask if you are concerned about your dog’s behavior in a class environment. The small-class format is limited to 6 dog/handler teams. *First class is a required orientation without dogs in attendance*
